Scope and Content

The Board of Directors Meetings are used to discuss all aspects of Company business.

Meetings are held two or three times a year.

Meetings are attended by the Company Directors (Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Gallery Director, Head of Trading and Communications & Development Director), the Company Secretary, the Non-Executive Director (an independent director appointed November 2008) and the Company's external auditors. The Gallery Director is the Chairman of the Company.

Until 2010 this series contains minutes only, thereafter agendas and papers are also included. Papers include budgets, financial reports and statements, audit plans, reports of different areas of business, etc.

The National Portrait Gallery Company Ltd. was incorporated on 1 Dec 2006 at Companies House with company number 6015724.

The National Portrait Gallery Company is a fully owned trading subsidiary of the National Portrait Gallery, which was set up to generate income that will help the Gallery to continue to meet its overall aims and objectives. The company's main objectives are to maximise income for the Gallery and to add value to the visitor experience by encouraging repeat visits. It will achieve this by donating its profits under the Gift Aid scheme to the Gallery at the end of each financial year while at the same time safeguarding the Gallery's assets and resources.

The National Portrait Gallery Company is a portfolio of the following three business activities:
a) Retail shops
b) Catering franchise
c) Venue hire

Although records are generally available for public consultation, some information in them, such as personal data or information supplied to the Gallery in confidence, may be restricted.
