Scope and Content

William Quinsee of Cambridge devises certain land in Cambridge to Charles Finch of Cambridge, Samuel Widnall of Grantchester, Cambridgeshire, and his son William Quinsee and their heirs to the use of his wife Mary Quinsee during widowhood, on her death or re-marriage to the use of his trustees on trust till his children attain their majority, then to the use of his sons William Quinsee and John Quinsee and their heirs for ever; certain further land to the same to the use of his trustees until his children attain their majority upon trust, then to the use of his daughter Charlotte Quinsee and her heirs for ever; certain further land to the same to the use of the same till his children attain their majority upon trust, then to the use of his daughter Susanna and his(sic ?her) heirs for ever; certain further land to the same to the use of the same till his children attain their majority upon trust, then to the use of his daughter Emma and her heirs for ever; certain leasehold land to the same till his children attain their majority upon trust, then to his wife for life, then to his children and their issue as his wife shall appoint, in default certain of the land to his son William absolutely and the remainder to his son John absolutely; certain further freehold and leasehold land to the use of the same and their heirs for sale if necessary, an offer to be first made of certain leasehold land to Aaron Payne of Cambridge; certain leasehold land to his sons William and John absolutely as soon as the youngest attains his majority; he directs his wife to carry on the business till then, he then bequeaths all stock-in-trade to his sons William and John, they to carry on the business for their own use; he bequeaths certain personal property to his wife, she to have the use of certain further property during widowhood; should she die or remarry before all the children attain their majority such children as occupy the house in which the property is are to have the use of it till the youngest attains his majority, then to be divided among the children; his watch to his son William on condition he gives the one he was then using to the testator's son John; he directs his wife and trustees to permit his children to reside in the house he occupies till they marry or attain their majority, provided that they have the power to expel any child for misconduct; if the wife dies or remarries the trustees may provide a fit person to keep the house and bring up the children; he bequeaths a certain sum to his executors; the residue of his personal estate to Charles Finch, Samuel Widnall and his son William upon trust to convert it to money and to invest it as well as all the money arising from the real estate and to pay a certain annuity to his wife for life or till the youngest child attains majority for the education of the children, if she die the trustees are to apply it for the education of the children; the remainder to accumulate till the youngest attains majority, in trust to pay his daughter Emma a vested legacy; the residue in trust for his wife and children or the issue of the children if not living at the time of distribution; he devises to the same and their heirs all hereditaments vested in him as trustee or mortgagee; the trustees may add to their number; his son William to be deemed incompetent to act as trustee till he attains his majority; he appoints the same executors, and nominates the trustees guardians of his children.
