Administrative / Biographical History

From 1926, Social Science, Geography, Economics and Commerce were grouped together as the School of Social Science and Administration. The Faculty of Social and Environmental Studies was established in 1971. Formerly the departments of the Faculty belonged to the old Faculty of Arts; the departments that made up the faculty were concerned with the study of the human environment in its widest sense. This therefore included Architecture, Commerce and Business Studies, Politics, Sociology, Psychology and Geography.
