Administrative / Biographical History

Charles Marowitz (b 1934) is an American writer and critic, playwright and theatre director. He founded the Open Space Theatre in London and worked as an assistant to Peter Brook at the Royal Shakespeare Company. From 1965, he adapted a number of Shakespeare plays including Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello, published separately and collectively as 'The Marowitz Shakespeare'

Tom Matheson (d 2006) was a fellow of the Shakespeare Institute and lecturer in the English Department at the University of Birmingham
