The black and white photographs in the collection depict people, events (including the GeneralStrike, 1926), rural scenes, industrial buildings, collieries, farm animals, church architecture andhistoric houses in a variety of locations in the East Midlands. Places include: Eastwood, Annesley,Nuthall, Strelley, Beauvale, Greaseley, Kimberley, Bottesford, Nottingham, Awsworth, Gunthorpe,Newthorpe, Stapleford, Lowdham, Giltbrook, and Halloughton in Nottinghamshire; Ambergate, DaleAbbey, Bakewell, Haddon, Rowsley, Codnor, and Heanor in Derbyshire; and Dishley Abbey, Ragdale, andWoodhouse Eaves in Leicestershire. The prints are accompanied by negatives of the photographs and amanuscript list of the images depicted. There are approximately 250 prints and negatives.
