Commonplace-book of a Chester gentleman

Scope and Content

A small commonplace book recording a few financial transactions with Flintshire gentry from 1686-1696. Also, later entries belonging to the early 19th century.

The book is based on the Goldsmith Almanack for 1689.

Administrative / Biographical History

No biographical information was available regarding the creators of this document. The 17th century hand is most probably that of a Chester gentleman, perhaps a banker. The later, 18th century entries were most probably made by a surgeon.
