'Born in 1922, Le Cren began working with the FBA as a War-time Research Worker in 1942 and was involved in the Windermere Perch/Pike project, which has continued for nearly 70 years. During his time with FBA he also met his future wife, Kate Woolham, who worked as a Secretary. In 1961 he was appointed Officer-in-Charge of the newly created River Laboratory, and in 1973 he became FBA Director, a post he held for 10 years. He subsequently became a Vice President of the Association'. [Written by Michael Dobson, FBA Director]
