Administrative / Biographical History

The Liverpool Victoria Employees' Union was formed in or before 1910 to promote the interests of employees of the Liverpool Victoria Legal Friendly Society (later the Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society) and to regulate relations between the Society's committee of management and the employees (MSS.411/LV/4/2/1). Its annual conference in June 1926 resolved to change its name to the Liverpool Victoria Workers' Union (MSS.411/LV/4/1/10). In 1965 it became the National Union of Insurance Workers Liverpool Victoria Section (MSS.411/LV/4/1/49).
