Administrative / Biographical History

The Inter-Banks Organisation and Methods Association (IBOMA) was formed in December 1960 after a meeting attended by representatives of the Eastern Exchange Banks Association, Foreign Banks Association and the Australasian banks. The aim of IBOMA was to encourage informal contacts between bankers and to discuss topical issues. IBOMA established a pattern of regular afternoon meetings in the City of London. When the regular venue for IBOMA meetings was closed, the structure of meetings was altered and half day sessions were introduced. These met with only limited success, however, and IBOMA was wound up in 1997.
