Administrative / Biographical History

Stanley Arthur Walden, CMG (1956), was born in 1905 and educated at the Royal Grammar School, Henley-on-Thames; and Selwyn College, Cambridge.

In 1929 he entered the Colonial Service in Tanganyika as a cadet. He held the posts of Assistant District Officer (1931), District Officer (1941), Deputy Provincial Commissioner (1948), Provincial Commissioner (1950), and Senior Provincial Commissioner (1953-1960).
