Mandatory Fields

The Hub descriptions are based on the fields used in an ISAD(G) description.

We ask you to include the six standard ISAD(G) mandatory fields, and also information on access conditions, the scope of the materials and the language of the materials. In addition, we need the name of your repository.

Our aim is to ensure that descriptions on the Archives Hub are effective for a global audience; enabling researchers to get a reasonable sense of the relevance of the collection for their research.

We have called these 'mandatory' fields, but we can take in descriptions that omit some of these fields - however, we believe this is the mininum set of information for an effective description.

If you have created a summary description, remember that you can include a link to your own more detailed catalogue within the 'othr finding aids' section of the description.

If you are using our EAD Editor you will be prompted to include our recommended fields, which are outlined in red.
