Hub in the Pub
We are holding a training day for Hub contributors on Friday 30th November and we thought it would be great to combine it with a Hub in the Pub. We warmly invite you to come a share a drink with us and talk to us about the Archives Hub, issues around discovery, being a researcher using archives, or anything else related to finding, using and working with archives.
This is just an informal get-together and we cannot offer to provide food and drink unfortunately, but we would love to take this opportunity to meet and talk to Hub contributors and users.
When and where?
The Hub in the Pub will be on 29th November 2012 at the Carpenter's Arms, London W1T 4EY, which is conveniently situated between Goodge St and Warren St and about 10 minutes from Tottenham Court Road station. We will be there from 18.00-20.00, so come along any time.
Meet our colleagues in the Museum world!
We are combining the evening with a social event organised by the Museums Computer Group, prior to their annual 'UK Museums on the Web' on 30th November, so this is a great chance to get together with different colleagues and share experiences and ideas.
Contributors' Training Day
The following day, Friday 30th November, will be a training day for Archives Hub contributors. This is a free training day, giving hands-on experience of using our EAD Editor to create and modify descriptions. It will include:
- Using the Editor to create ISAD(G) compliant descriptions
- Adding index terms to descriptions
- Modifying your descriptions
- Adding links to images and other digital content
- Exporting descriptions from archival systems such as CALM.
The training will be held at South Camden Learning Centre, from 11:00-16:00.
If you would like to attend please email us. Please note numbers are limited. We will give priority to institutions contributing or intending to contribute to the Hub. If we are over-subscribed we may have to limit the numbers to one individual per repository.
