Genesis

The Archives Hub provides data to the Genesis project, in collaboration with the Women's Library. The Genesis dataset includes descriptions of women's history collections from museums, libraries and archives in the United Kingdom.

Dataset

The data in Genesis is taken from selected Archives Hub descriptions of collections by or about women. These are indicated by access points which include the term 'women', eg 'women scientists' 'women teachers' 'women's health'.

If you would like your descriptions to be included in the Genesis dataset, please include 'women' (or a term containing 'women') in your access points. If you already have descriptions on the Hub, and would like to add access points to them, please contact us.

Technical details

The Genesis portal sends search request to the Hub via SRU. This means that it searches the live version of the Hub, and does not need to be separately maintained.
