One of the most important moments in Rugby League's history came in 1910 when the Northern Union decided to send a team to Australia and New Zealand. The players had an allowance of 10 shillings per week on ship and £1 on land, with a payment of £1 per week to families at home if the player was married. The team also shared a third of the profits (if any) at the end of the tour.
