The book is marked 'Pamphlets' on the spine. It includes published copies of Sir Walter Scott by George Wyndham (MacMillan, 1908), Samuel Johnson by Walter Raleigh (Oxford, 1907), A French Chesterfield by Viscount St Cyres (undated), What caused the panic (1907), a programme for the visit of the Governor General and Lady Northcote to Western Australia in 1907, a programme for the first Australian exhibition of Women's Work, 1907, various published articles on Lord Northcote, and a MS copy of a published long obituary of his father, Lord Iddesleigh, by Lord Cranbrook, and a copy of a long letter to Lady Northcote from Cornelia Sorabji.

Administrative / Biographical History

It is not known which member of the family put this selection together, but it was most probably Henry Stafford Northcote (1846-1911), 1st Lord Northcote, or his wife. Lord Northcote was Governor General of Australia.
