Scope and Content

This small collection consists of the following items: notes on Roman road from Isca to Teignbridge by Browne, Aug 1967; one pamphlet entitled 'Roman roads: west of Exe: some suggestions', W.S. Simey, inscribed 'K E Moxon Browne, Highweek, Aug 1964' and enclosing two maps of Roman roads in Devon and Cornwall, c 1964; typescript (with duplicate) notes 'Our Roman Road' about the Exeter to Teignbridge Roman road, taken from I.D. Margary, Roman roads in Britain (1955); information sheet on Sourton Down excavations (Exeter Museums Archaeological Field Unit), on site of new A30 Okehampton-Launceston dual carriageway (at west end of Okehampton bypass), 1991.

Administrative / Biographical History

Commander Kenneth E. Moxon-Browne Browne RN was President of Devon Archaeological Society in 1983 and 1984, and was vice-president from 1985-1999. The Society exists to promote the study of the archaeology of Devon, and to encourage the preservation and investigation of archaeological sites and historic sites in the county.
