Chronicle of Thomas Roberts of Conwy

Scope and Content

Typescript (62 pages), with introduction, index and genealogical tables relating to births, marriages and deaths both within Thomas Roberts' own family and in the town of Conwy and the surrounding area, 1814-1870. It also contains many references to local affairs, events, accidents etc. in the Conwy-Bangor area.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Roberts (1792-1866) was from Conwy in Gwynedd and was postmaster there from 1816 to 1824. He created a family and local history chronicle which was copied by his granddaughter Katherine Webster (1847-1928) who also added entries for the years 1863 to 1870. This copy was transcribed and indexed by Mrs Daphne Webster in October 1987.

Material is arranged in chronological order and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
