Scope and Content

Miscellaneous collection of documents (mainly letters) presented to the library with the Porth yr Aur papers but apparently unrelated. Documents relate to Owen Lloyd and his family and also to Ffoulk Price of Llanllyfni and to the Bodewryd and Chwaen Wen estates.

Administrative / Biographical History

Owen Lloyd, junior, of Ty Newydd in Llannor, north Wales migrated to London about 1690-91 and was in the service of Sir William Cranmer which he had left by 1705. Soon after this date he married Mary Evans, widow of Andrew Evans of Llanllyfni. He died in 1735 after which his wife and stepson Richard were engaged in litigation over lands and rents.

Ffoulk Price (fl. 1705) of Llanllyfni was a clerk and the son of Edmwnd Prys, Archdeacon of Merioneth and rector of Llanllyfni since 1670. Anne Jones (fl. 1692) of the parish of Edern was a ward of John Roberts of Cwmistir in Edern who was married to Catherine Glynne.
