Scope and Content

Memorandum respecting Welsh Colony, 1866 September 23, which consists of questions and answers concerning the supply of stores to the colony; the questions being put (according to an accompanying letter) by Frederick Moore, founder of the house of Moore and Tudor, merchants of Buenos Aires, and the answers being those of Lewis Jones, one of the pioneers of the Welsh settlement in Patagonia.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 1865 a Welsh colony was established in Patagonia, Argentina. Lewis Jones (1836-1904) was one of the pioneers of the expedition, who surveyed Patagonia in 1862. For further details consult Y Wladfa by R. Bryn Williams.
