An Eisteddfod is a Welsh musical and literary festival. Wales, as well as having a National Eisteddfod which is held annually for the whole of the country, also has smaller festivals which are held at a local level. Many essays such as this one have been produced over the years for entry in Eisteddfod competitions.

Dic Aberdaron or Richard Robert Jones was born in 1780. A native of Aberdaron in north Wales, he was well known for his talent for learning languages. He died in 1843.
