Administrative / Biographical History

The British Association for the Advancement of Science was founded in 1831 and held its annual meeting in Leeds in 1858. The event was held on premises belonging to the Leeds School of Medicine (the institution which preceded the foundation of the Yorkshire College and the University of Leeds)
