Materials related to the development of the dyestuff industry in Great Britain, compiled by A. Woodhead

Comprises: (1) 21 textbooks on dyeing, dated 1902-1920; (2) 7 handbooks on dyeing, dated 1903-1913; (3) 4 pattern books, dated 1912-1913; (4) 2 manuscript books of lecture notes, dated 1908; (5) 7 further handbooks, dated 1916-1934; (6) 20 further pattern books, dated 1918-1930; (7) 44 pattern sheets, dated 1923-1934, plus 1 or 2 undated pattern sheets; (8) 1 small highly-decorated cardboard box made in the shape of a small book, containing a manuscript list written by the donor of the archive as outlined above, and a covering manuscript letter written by A. Woodhead to Dr Jones on 30 October 1962 explaining his connection with the Chemistry Department before the First World War and the various parts of the archive.

A. Woodhead was a former member of the Chemistry Department at the University of Leeds in the early years of the twentieth century, who later worked in Sandos Chemical Works of Basel, Switzerland.
