Administrative / Biographical History

Claude Eugene (Benjy) Rooke (1896-1918) enlisted with King Edward's Horse, November 1914. As a Lieutenant, 9th and 1st/5th Battalions, King's Own Scottish Borderers, he served in Egypt/Palestine, February-November 1916. Then he was attached as an Observer to No. 192 Squadron, RFC (Royal Flying Corps), from November 1916 and killed in an aeroplane accident at Newmarket on 21 January 1918.
