Dixey Family Papers

Papers of the Dixey family, mainly of F.A. and H.G. Dixey, consisting of:  

• Papers of F.A.Dixey, including:  
  • Journal, 1868-1935
  • Letters, 1874-1933
  • Papers, notes, articles and press cuttings
• Diary of Isabel Dixey, 1889-1916
• Papers of H.G. Dixey, including:  
  • Thirty-six volumes of 'The Unique manuscript magazine', begun by H.G. Dixey and his brother Roger as children in 1904, and continued to the former's death in 1974
  • Journals and diaries, 1911-14, 1956-74
  • Letters from H.G. Dixey while serving on merchant ships, 1913-15
  • Five notebooks and a tyescript copy of an account by H.G. Dixey of three years serving with the Royal Air Force in the Middle East, entitled 'Middle age in the Middle East', consisting mainly of extracts from letters to his wife Joan, 1941-4
  • Two volumes of drawings by H.G. Dixey to illustrate 'Middle age in the Middle East', 1941-4
  • Notebooks containing verse, plays, songs and a short story, 1905-71
  • Eighteen Dragon School exercise books containing talks given by H.G. Dixey to boys at the school, 1932-40, n.d.

The Dixey family of Oxford included Frederick Augustus Dixey (1855-1935), Fellow of Wadham College, and his son Harold Giles Dixey (1893-1974), assistant master at the Dragon School. Details of Frederick Augustus Dixey are given in Who Was Who.
