Administrative / Biographical History

George William Frederick Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon (1800-1870) was a statesman. Lady Maria Theresa Lewis (1803-1865) ne Villiers, afterwards Lister, biographer, was the sister of Lord Clarendon. Her son was Sir Thomas Villiers Lister (1832-1902), Assistant Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Details of Lord Clarendon and Lady Maria Theresa are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.
