University of Birmingham Staff Papers: Papers Collected by Professor Windle

Papers relating to the foundation of the University of Birmingham assembled by Professor Windle. The collection comprises correspondence to and from Windle regarding the establishment of a University in Birmingham.

Sir Bertram Coghill Alan Windle, 1858-1929, was the dean of Queen's College Birmingham, a medical college and predecessor of University of Birmingham. He was involved in the early move towards a Midland University and became the first Professor of Anatomy at University of Birmingham when it received chartership in 1900.
