Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Born in Newcastle in 1918, Ned Owens studied art during the 1930s. He established an art gallery, the Midday Studios, holding a Lowry exhibition in 1948. He taught art in the Foundation Department at the Manchester School of Art and worked as a staff artist at the Guardian between 1958 and 1975.
