Administrative / Biographical History
Henry Alabaster (1836-1884), Chaloner's elder brother, was educated at King's College London. He served the British government in Thailand (c.1857-1873) and later became special adviser to the King of Siam. On the 2nd September 1865 he married Palacia Emma Fahey by whom he had four children. He authored a number of literary works including "The Wheel of the Law," subtitled 'Buddhism from Siamese Sources, by the modern Buddhist, a life of Buddha, and an account of the Phrabat' (1871).
