Administrative / Biographical History
Angela Whitcombe (ne Barclay), a teenage girl living in a middle-class house with her parents during the First World War, served at a VAD (Voluntary Aid Detachment) hospital in Hertford. Later she became the mother of the novelist Florena Barclay.
