Scope and Content

The collection primarily contains manuscript and typescript notes made by T.H. Rickman relating to Knighthorpe Hall, Loughborough, Leicestershire and the barn and stable at the hall. The notes formed the basis of his illustrated articles in the 'Bulletin of the Loughborough and District Archaeological Society', 1966. The collection also contains letters (1964-1967) regarding the articles sent to Rickman by Brian Williams of Loughborough (excavations advisor for the Society at the time), and John T. Smith of Potters Bar, Hertfordshire (of the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments). Draft replies by Rickman to Smith are enclosed. Included with the collection are seven sketch drawings of the buildings, a copy of the published article, and a note.

T.H. Rickman was a resident of Kegworth, Nottinghamshire with an interest in local history.

The collection has been divided into five sections consisting of typescript drafts, correspondence, drawings, copy of the article, and other papers.
