Scope and Content

A photostat facsimile of a manuscript of the Gospel according to St Matthew, St Mark and St Luke to Chapter III, 9, written about A.D. 700 in mixed uncial and miniscule characters.
The text is that of the Vulgate version of St Jerome with an admixture of many older readings.

The original, which was once at Llandaff or at some other Teilo foundation in South Wales, is in the library of Lichfield Cathedral, and, as St Chad, or Ceadda, was the patron saint of Lichfield, it is generally known as the Book of St Chad or the St Chad Gospels.
