Scope and Content

The folder is entitled 'Kenya and Uganda railways and harbours: Estates Office, Land Policy Main Line Year 1897. Case No. LA 1001/E. B.W. Whitehouse's reports on construction of railway and the fixing of boundaries of main line'. It contains a letter from B.W. Kilindini, 3 November 1897, regarding his movements since 30 September (1 page); a letter from B.W. Maungo, 15 December 1897, comprising a 'Report on villages and occupied lands in the vicinity of Uganda Railway' (20 pages); a letter from B.W. Kilindini, 11 July 1899 (2 pages); and a confidential print containing a memorandum by F.L. O'Callaghan, 2 February 1900, and annexes, on the subject of the diet of Indian labourers (6 pages).
