These speeches were given at the Extraordinary Session of the United Medical Societies on 18 December 1918  at Berliner Klinische Wochenschrift, Berlin, Germany. The session concentrated on the state of public health as affected by wartime food supplies following the 1914-1918 World War. The Fight the Famine Council founded in early 1919  and becoming Save the Children in May of the same year, then distributed the typescript of these speeches around various UK libraries for reference.
