Administrative / Biographical History

Odette Marie Helene Louise de Mourgues was born in 1914. She was educated in France and a research student (later Research Fellow) at Girton College 1946-1948, working on French and English poets of the late 16th and early 17th centuries. She was Girton College Resident Fellow from 1948 to 1950, the year in which she received her PhD. She was a Fellow and Lecturer in French 1950-1975 and then Professional Fellow 1975-1980. She was a Life Fellow from 1980 to 1988. She held numerous University appointments, including a Personal Chair in French (1975-1980). She published numerous articles, lecturers and reviews and died in 1988.
