Scope and Content

The collection consists of poems and compositions made by Glyn Myfyr for various occasions such as christmas, birthdays and weddings. Also, elegies and poems for Eisteddfod competitions, in Wales and America, together with addresses made at literary meetings and lectures on Hedd Wyn and Twm o'r Nant

The letters written to Glyn Myfyr are from various correspondents, including some from America, Australia and Canada. Of particular interest are the letters regarding his argument with the officials of the Edmonton Eisteddfod, Canada in 1935 regarding the chair he had won.

Administrative / Biographical History

Evan Williams, bard, was born in Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, Denbighshire in 1897 and is known to have lived in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Merionethshire. Amongst his published works there are three compilations of poetry, Briallu'r glyn (1896), Meillion y glyn (190-?) and Rhosynau'r Glyn (1901). Also, Y Deimwnt Du a rhai caniadau (1917) which is a pamphlet containing an essay on the history of coal together with a few poems. He died in February 1937.

Arrangement

The papers are scattered throughout the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts. There is no apparent system of arrangement.
