Papers relating to an industrial dispute at Tameside Care Group, a private residential-care provider, where in March 1998 over 300 workers went on strike against the implementation of new contracts which enforced pay reductions. Almost all of the strikers were women, many of whom were single mothers. The collection includes strike committee minutes, letters of support and newspaper cuttings, as well as useful background to the company and the dispute.
