Scope and Content

Carbon typescript of pamphlets containing accounts by J. Duncan, 1955-61, of dissenting churches and churchmen in Bury St. Edmunds from the 16th to the 19th century:

  • 'The origins of the free churches in Bury St. Edmunds' in 13 pamphlets, 1955-8, with photographs of the churches
  • accounts of individual nonconformists, mainly Independents, associated with Bury St. Edmunds in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, 1956-8
  • accounts of early Independent congregations around Bury St. Edmunds, and of eminent congregationalists associated with Bury St. Edmunds from the 17th to the 19th century, 1959-61.
