C. Cooper (typescript, 2 ff.); (9) Envoi, by Ronald Reeve (typescript); (10) On watching football matches, by Harold Brook Hodgson (3 ff.); (11) The radio shop, by M. A. (5 ff.); (12) Verse: begins, "Some things there are admit degree", by J. (typescript), endorsed in pencil: "Gryphon copy for May issue 1932. Rejected."; (13) Those conventions, by Charles Edward Johnson (4 ff.); (14) Verbum sapienti, by Veteran (3 ff.), annotated in pencil: "L. B. I. M. Lawrence".

The Gryphon began publication in December 1897 and continued until the early 1960s. There was a mixture of staff and student involvement in its production, but students soon established themselves in the editorial chair, although the committee always included one or two representatives of the academic staff. By the 1930s The Gryphon had become increasingly an expression of student activities and views and was supported by the Old Students Association
