Scope and Content

Diaries of the Rayne family, mainly of Lilian, Bessie and Dorothy Rayne. The collection also contains some diaries of their mother. The diaries are mainly concerned with domestic and family matters.

Administrative / Biographical History

Lilian M.R. Rayne was a suffragette and artist. Bessie E.R. Rayne (b 1871), later Mrs J.N. Sparkes, was a suffragette. Dorothy Rayne (b 1880) was a suffragette and artist.
