Administrative / Biographical History

Arthur Norman Barlow (b. 1897 at Blackburn, Lancashire) was educated at Rugby. As 2nd Lieutenant, 5th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, he was seconded to the RFC (Royal Flying Corps) and later became a Lieutenant. Whilst serving as a pilot with No. 57 Squadron on the Western Front he was hit by enemy fire and crashed at Ingelmunster, 10 Aug. 1917. He was held as a POW (Prisoner of War) at Heidelberg, Holzminden and Schweidnitz, 1917-1918.
