Scope and Content

A valuation of an estate belonging to Richard Myddelton in county Denbigh, c. 1758. Includes information on tenants, field names, acreage, soil quality etc. Also, a list of the freeholders of Chirk and Llangollen, co-terminous with aforementioned item.

A survey of the Gwaenynog estate, co. Denbigh by William Williams of Llandygai, 1777-1778, which has the names of parishes, farms and acreages arranged in columns. Also included is a Statute Measure of the Gwaenynog Demesne as surveyed by William Williams in 1782 and the rental of Rev. Doctor Myddelton for 1804.

The Myddelton family of Chirk Castle owned extensive lands in the county of Denbighshire, including the Gwaenynog estate. For further information consult The Dictionary of Welsh Biography down to 1940, 1959 p.p. 675-678.
