Acquisition Information

The main collection, comprising 562 items, was purchased in the 1950's (in more than one instalment from different sources) on the initiative of Professor S.L. Greenslade. Another closely associated group of 37 deeds was bought in the 1960's and has been treated as an appendix to the main collection.

Conditions Governing Use

Permission to make any published use of material from the collection must be sought in advance from the Sub-Librarian, Special Collections (e-mail PG.Library@durham.ac.uk) and, where appropriate, from the copyright owner. Custodial History

Internal evidence suggests that most, or possibly all these deeds belonged earlier this century to a larger collection subsequently broken up, parts of which passed through the firms of H.R. Moulton and of R.B. Halliday of Leicester.
