Scope and Content

A collection of framed prints of various sizes, with captions stuck onto the glass (removed and now on reverse of frame).

Administrative / Biographical History

Hugh Middleton Brice-Smith (1884-1967) graduated from Cambridge in 1906, and in January 1909 was appointed an Assistant Resident in the Northern Nigeria administration. Between 1909 and 1917, when he was promoted Second Class District Officer, he served in Muri and Kano Provinces, transferring to Benin in February 1917. In the following years he served mainly in Zaria Province and was appointed District Officer, Zaria in 1925. He was made Resident of the Southern Province Provincial Administration in 1929 and retired in 1934.
