Scope and Content

This oral history collection comprises 35 interviews and 5 meetings with contributers to the Suits and Saris project conducted between March 2010 and December 2011 by Malika Kraamer. Interviews explore the relationship between British and South Asian Fashion and how traditional styles and textiles are translated on the high street.

Administrative / Biographical History

Suits & Saris is part of Dress the World, a collaborative programme of three East Midlands’ exhibitions: Living in Silk at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery and The World at Your Feet, Northampton Museum & Art Gallery, as part of the Stories of the World project for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
