ALC presented much of his collection of autographed books to Colwyn Bay Library. This file of material was compiled by the Library staff in the course of working on an exhibition of ALC's life and work. It includes a list of bibliographical references; correspondence; list of ALC's books now in the Library; Order of Proceedings of the Llandudno Provincial Grand Lodge on the occasion of the installation of ALC as Grand Master Designate; newspaper cuttings; copies of published photographs of Shaw and Wells; a letter to ALC from Holbrook Jackson; a typed list by ALC giving the location of items in his houses for the George Eastman Museum in New York (signed by him); copies of catalogues; copy of a children's play by ALC etc.
ALC was a pioneer in the field of photography, photographing such literary figures as G B Shaw, H G Wells, Jerome K Jerome, Mark Twain and George Meredith. Although born in America, he became a British subject and spent the great majority of his life in Britain. He lived in Ebberston Road East, Rhos on Sea, for many years, where he was a figure of importance in his local Freemasons' Lodge
