Scope and Content

In consideration of £98, John Lee of Bluntisham, Huntingdonshire, baker, mortgages his freehold tenement in Woodend, Bluntisham, which he himself currently occupies, to Allpress Ashton of St Ives, miller. Nominal repayment date of capital sum and 5% interest is 7 July 1846. Signed and sealed by both parties, witnessed by J P Hart and Ja Jarrold, clerks to [W G] Ashton, solicitor, of Cambridge, duty stamps. Signed receipt from Lee for the £98 on verso, same witnesses and date. Form of indenture provided by Thomas Lloyd of Holborn, parchment-dealer, and Silvester and Co of The Strand, engravers.
