The collection consists of three volumes of a catalogue raisson of Hudson's works, detailing a total of 322 pictures, with black and white photographs of each one. There is also a manuscript-cum-typescript of her biography of Hudson, in two large parts.

Joyce Boundy was born in Devon and educated at Edgehill College Bideford. She trained in Fine Art at the University of Reading and taught art at Newton Abbot Grammar School 1950-1976. She later became head of the art department at Lady Margaret School, London SW6, and later returned to Devon, living in Exeter. Her research on Thomas Hudson (1701-1779), portrait-painter, began in 1968, and resulted in this unpublished text and catalogue and two articles which appeared in Apollo Magazine, in October 1978 and May 1985.
