The papers consist of letters addressed to Richard Jones from various correspondents relating to matters of a religious nature, such as preachers, a sermon conducted by John Elias in Pwllheli and the unchristian agitation at the Congregational chapel, Capel Helyg, Llangybi, Caernarfonshire. Also included are copies of letters written by Richard Jones on similar subjects. There is an application for the post of Relieving Officer in the Cricieth area and a notice to quit by Richard Jones in respect of a dwelling house called Pantglas Inn in 1840. A large section of this collection relates to Capel Helyg and in particular to the dispute which took place in the chapel in the mid-nineteenth century. Amongst these are an account of the money received towards building the chapel and restoring the chapel house; an account for cards supplied for a tea meeting at Capel Helyg and the! order of service of a competition held there in 1855.
