Collection of candidates' addresses to electors and other publicity material collected by the main library for the general, European and some local elections.

Administrative / Biographical History

In the 1979 General Election the Conservative Party won with 13,697,923 votes (43.9 per cent). The Labour Party gained 11,535,218 votes (36.9 per cent), the Liberal Party 4,313,804 votes (13.8 per cent), the Scottish National Party 504,259 votes (1.6 per cent), the National Front 191,719 votes (0.6 per cent) and the Communist Party 16,858 votes (0.1 per cent).
