Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
This house, originally called `Windley', was built for Mr J G Elsom, of Smart and Elsom, 46 Friar Gate, Derby. He moved from 346 Uttoxeter Road, Derby, to the new house on his marriage in 1932. At that date, Bessacarr, and the entire parish of Cantley, lay in the administrative area of the Doncaster Rural District Council. The area was incorporated into the County Borough of Doncaster in April 1915.
